We will once again organise popular summer camps for recreational juniors aged 9–15. The camps will take place at Esport during the first and third weeks of June. Hobby Camp 1 is a five‑day camp (€250) and Hobby Camp 2 is a four‑day camp (€195).

The daily programme runs from 9:00 to 15:00. The camp fee includes coaching, shuttles, lunch, and additional activities. Our experienced coaches will divide participants into suitable level and age groups when needed. Welcome!

The traditional and award‑winning badminton tournament for women and girls, Espoo Women’s Open 2026, is back! On February 28th at Esport Center, both new hobby players and Finland’s top athletes will take the courts — from under‑11 juniors to senior women, each in their own categories within one shared event.

The competition is renewing its format, and two new hobby categories are being introduced for women. No license or club membership is required to participate in the hobby series.

  • NK- and NN‑kunto are intended for women who have already played more in hobby-level competitions. Players who have participated in a few C‑level tournaments are also welcome.
  • NK- and NN‑rento are for less experienced players and those just starting to compete.

The event will also include junior hobby categories:

  • TK‑11 hobby (born 2016 or later)
  • TK‑13 hobby (born 2014–2015)
  • TK‑15 hobby (born 2012–2013)

Registration for hobby categories is open until 13 February 2026 by email to elina.h.vaisanen (a) gmail.com. Please include: name, category, date of birth for junior categories, possible club, and the preferred size of the free tournament shirt. All registrations will receive a reply — please make sure you get a confirmation email.

Entry fees for hobby categories:

  • Women: NK €26, NN €20/player
  • Juniors: TK €20

Registration for the official SSuL competition categories is done via Tournamentsoftware by February 13th 2026. Categories include: Valio, A, B, C, U9, U11, U13, U15, U17, U19, 35+, 45+. Tapion Sulka thanks all badminton players for the past year and wishes everyone a joyful and badminton-filled New Year 2026!

The office will be closed from December 22, 2025 to January 2, 2026. We will respond to all messages at the beginning of the year and apologize for any possible delay in replies.

The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m at Esport Center with a double tournament and you can come to warm up already at 9.30 am. The tournament is open to players of all ages and skill levels. It is free of charge and serves as a substitute for one ranking competition. Points from this tournament will not affect the ranking list.

Participants are required to bring their own shuttles, but they can also be purchased from the event organizers. The tournament will be played in pools, ensuring multiple matches for all pairs. Each pair will also get one or more follow-up matches.  The most important part is to have fun and enjoy playing games together!

Please register before Thursday 11.12. at 15.00 via this link: https://forms.gle/EJxvsm8coz6z5qna9. Both you and your partner must register for the event! Unfortunately, it is not possible to register without a partner, and it will not be possible to register at the hall on Saturday. We have added levels (competitive and hobby) and age to the registration form to allow players to challenge opponents of their own level. At the request of the players, we are updating the names of those who have registered with this news, so please mark your name on the registration form if you do not want your name to appear (names will be removed after this event).

The tournament includes a costume competition, with a prize for the best team outfit. For example, your outfit can be Christmas-themed.

If you have any questions, please contact: an.cong@hotmail.com

See you at the pre-Christmas event!

Tapion Sulka’s long-time executive director and coach, one of Finland’s top badminton players of the 1990s, Lasse Lindelöf, has passed away after a serious illness. Tapion Sulka mourns Lasse's energetic and joyful presence. Tapion Sulka ry extends its warm condolences to Lasse’s family and loved ones.

Lasse began playing badminton in 1979. He entered his first competition only at the age of 12. His first Finnish Championship title came in mixed doubles at the age of 17 in 1985. Altogether, alongside four mixed doubles national titles, he also won two men’s doubles championships.

Lasse was one of the absolute leading figures in Finnish badminton during the 1990s. He was a key link in the legendary team that took Finland’s men’s squad to the Thomas Cup finals in Jakarta in 1994. Over the course of his career, Lasse represented Finland in a total of 79 international matches. His trademark was quick and light footwork, which seemed to happen almost effortlessly. In Sulkapallo magazine, he was nicknamed “the weasel.”

Lasse began his coaching career in 1993, working at many levels from juniors to elite players. In 2012, he was appointed executive director of Tapion Sulka. Through his work and charisma, he supported the club’s growth into what it is today.

Lasse’s contribution to the club and its spirit was immense. He coached hundreds of current and former Tapion Sulka hobbyists and top players, igniting in them a deep passion for badminton and supporting their journeys to the highest level of the sport. In Lasse’s chest beat one of the greatest Tapion Sulka hearts.
